Dear Dr Ramaswamy,

FICCI Higher Education Summit 2011
"Strategies for Expansion in Higher Education in India"
November 11& 12 2011, New Delhi

I am pleased to inform you that on the occasion of National Education day, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) with the support of Ministry of Human Resource Development, and Planning Commission, Government of India will be organizing the 7th FICCI Higher Education Summit 2011, a two day Global Conference, on November 11 & 12 at FICCI, Federation House, New Delhi.

Higher education is critical to India's aspirations of emerging as a major player in the world's knowledge economy. The demographic dividend that the country is bestowed with would be earned only if the human resources are skilled and trained. The Indian higher education system is undergoing a major transformation. The government has shown its commitment to deregulate Universities/Higher Educational Institutions for encouraging quality higher education. The recent Bills on higher education introduced in the Parliament reflect the government's intent. The private sector on its part has also been playing a significant role in meeting the demands of the industry particularly in professional education sector.
The Summit is an earnest effort towards bringing together key policy makers, educationists and the corporate sector at both national and international level for deliberations, interactions, knowledge sharing and identification of policy and practice imperatives.
You may like to know that in the past, FICCI Higher Education Summits have been graced by Dr John DeGioia, President, Georgetown University, USA and Prof. Stephen J.
